How to Find Golden Keywords with Google Keyword Planner?

Find Golden Keywords 270x409About 2 weeks ago I was investigating the creation of a new website in the fitness category.

This, because I’ve worked for a couple of years in that domain, so I thought : let’s investigate if there is an opportunity somewhere. And I started out with some keyword research.

First I sat down for 2 hours with Market Samurai. a wonderful piece of software. And when I was done with that, I asked myself : How much time would it take if I did NOT had market samurai?

Could I have done the same thing just with the free Google Keyword Planner (GKP) tool? Instead of keeping mumbling in my head I decided to give it a try. Knowing in advance that it would take me much more time. But I just wanted to make sure that , yes, this is possible by using only a free tool.

I mean not everybody has the financial possibilities to buy a piece of software for around $100.

So I sat down for a day and started to fiddle around with GKP. And I registered everything. All manipulations, all downloads, all sorting in spreadsheets and after a long session, I came to the conclusion : YES, you can do all this just by using GKP and a basic spreadsheet.

And you will find the same golden nuggets !

I then decided to make a nice blog post about this, because the information was really useful. And I started creating my blog post. At the end of the day I had 5000 words and 20 pages. And that was just the introduction ! Hmm, this is a bit too much to publish as a blog post.

This whole thing was getting  a bit out of hand and was turning into a complete e-book. But maybe there existed already ebooks on that subject?  And of course, there were dozens of them. So I ordered a couple of these and read them.

But I was disappointed with the results. Why? For various reasons:

-Some of them promised to show how to find good keywords with free keyword tools. But when I installed this software, either it didn’t work, or it came in a limited version which only gave me keywords from A to G. Big help.

-Or it gave me 5 search results and then blocked with something like “you have used your daily quota of search results”.

-Or the software in the book was outdated.

-Or I got the complete version on trial … for 2 days… : (

And when I did fall onto some interesting piece of software, the explanation of how to use it and how to go straight to a golden nugget, was confusing at best.

In short, I didn’t find what I was looking for. And I decided to write my own book on the subject. With 4 objectives in mind:

-Explain people how to find keywords with the FREE Google Keyword Planner.

-Show them a methodology to find the shortest path to find golden nuggets. And there are tens of thousands of them!

-Show the readers, how to do this even faster with a piece of software that you install on your computer.

-And explain all this in easy to understand terminology.

I mean, when I start reading a book on the subject, and in the first chapter I read :

“You should be looking for a keyword with high CR , combined with an excellent CTR and low SEOTC, preferably with an EMD available” .

then I want to do only one thing : Close the book..

Did I read ALL the books on keyword research? No, of course not.

Is this book MUCH better than the others? That’s up to you, the reader, to decide. I’ve spend several weeks researching this field and I can say that this book contains a solid method to find GOOD keywords. If not excellent.

But you should judge for yourself.

In this book I describe, in detail, how I use the free Google Keyword Planner (GKP) for my research. But, as you will see, GKP is not the most convenient tool to do this kind of work. And there are great tools out there that can do the same, but much faster. And for me, time is money.

Therefore,  to be as complete as possible, I have also included a complete walk-through for a paid tool . Market Samurai. And although it has a paid version, the complete free trial version is valid for 40 days (at the time of writing). That should be enough to go through all of the options of this extremely useful tool.

So if you want to know the whole story (sorry, it turned out at 144 pages), have a look at my latest ebook “Find GOLDEN keywords with FREE software” .

Have a look at it now and discover how YOU can also start digging up those golden nuggets with Google Keyword Planner.

The Secret Google Algorithm Finally Revealed !

Last week I had lunch with my buddy from Google.  Brat Mutts (*). He’s a rather big shot at Google. Looks after spam and these kind of things. Normally he just talks about all the nice things that he can buy now that his Google stock has exploded. Anyway, a nice guy.

We chatted a bit about search engines, Google updates and he was laughing his a** off when he told me “You see, all these poor s**ers who are trying to rank their site on our engine. They’ll never make it because no one has ever managed to crack the secret formula”.

I agreed. When he had finished his hamburger , he stood up, took his agenda under his arm, but a folded piece of paper fell on the floor. He was in a hurry, so he headed to the exit, and before I could hand him over the paper, he was already gone.

I just tell you all this, just to make sure that I didn’t steal or get this piece of information any shady way. It just happened like that.

So here I sat, with this piece of paper. Can I unfold it? Can I look at it? A bit embarrassing. Maybe a love letter, an invitation , who knows?

But my curiosity was stronger then me. So I slowly unfolded the paper …..

First I didn’t understand anything about it. What’s all this about? A formula? But about what? Rg ? walrus? So I searched a bit on internet and….

Bingo!!! All the abbreviations corresponded with one of the matrices that I found on searchengineland . It was THE seotable . And the secret formula of Rg . Ranking in Google!!

Here I was, having the holy grail in front of me. The secret to unlimited wealth.  Yes, I admit, I have exploited the formula before revealing it here. Now that I’ve made a fortune in less then 3 days, I cannot keep it just for me anymore, so I just share it with a couple of people here. But, shhh, please don’t forward, don’t share, don’t copy this HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL piece of information.

Ok, you all wonder what it looks like. Well, here is the scan that I made of the sheet.

 google secret formula

Do I need to explain more? Look on searchengineland for an explanation of all the parameters. For example : Cq is the criteria if your articles are well written. Lq are the number of backlinks to your site. But there are a number of variables that I haven’t been able to find :

ARS : Article Submitters?? LBS: Back Link submitters? DC : Duplicate Content?? TS : Thin Sites??

Given the handwritten notes, I think they have to do all with ‘shady’ practices. Which get heavily penalized.

And what is this ‘Walrus 4/15/14’ note? The new upcoming update from our search engine?  Duplicate content will be penalized 5x more? Thin sites will be factored in by power 10?

What you can  learn from this formula, is that if you manage to increase the speed of light ( c ) , your Rg (ranking in Google) will literally explode !

I will investigate a bit further all the other variables. Let me just cash in on all the sites that are now ranking number one on Google. I’ll be back soon. And don’t forget to watch your search results 4/15/14.

PS: This is highly confidential. Please don’t share, tweet, forward, copy.

Do you googlelize?

googleI think that most of the people who are active on the internet know what “to socialize” means. To socialize is being active on the social media : Facebook, twitter, Google+ etc.

Now, there is another  thing which I think is very important when you are going to explore online internet opportunities. And that is, the importance of Google in the whole equation of your success. This depends also a bit on what kind of online business you’re going into.

When you are going to sell second-hand stuff on Ebay, you don’t have to worry that much about SEO or pagerank or keywords. Most of that is taken care of by Ebay. You buy your products, make your listings, put them online and wait. When a customer buys your product, you ship it and get paid.

However, when you are going to pursue in any activity that requires a website, you have to spend some time on understanding what is SEO, how search engines work, what is important on your site and what isn’t. But most of all, you have to understand how Google works.

Google uses an algorithm to rank sites, using a lot of different parameters.  The titles of your pages, your domain name, the number of visitors, the number of backlinks, etc.etc.

No one really knows how this algorithm works, so the only way to find out , is by trial and error. Do something on your site, for example, use HTML headers H1, H2 instead of just bolding the text, and see what happens.

Some people have become experts in this field. This is what is SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is all about. And although nobody knows the exact formula, by using large databases of data, some things become clear, what Google “likes” and what they don’t like.

Google’s business, is to provide the best information possible, given a certain search on a keyword.  What Google likes :

  • Fresh content
  • Relevant content
  • Unique content
  • Backlinks. You can see these as a vote for your site. The more votes/backlinks you have the more Google will like your site.
  • Sites that are properly build. This means: proper headings, tags, keywords etc. Their robots have to be able to figure out what your pages are about.

And a lot more. Now, to do all these things that Google likes, some people try to shortcut the system. Or in other words, they try to fool Google.

Google is , at the moment of this writing, the 2nd biggest company in the world (in capitalization), after Apple. These are not a bunch of geeks in a garage. These are very smart people. And they are around 50.000.

So, trying to outsmart them is like trying to win a 100m sprint against Hussein Bolt, when you have never ran a mile in your life. In short, I recommend strongly that you don’t use tactics, strategies, tools and what have you, to try to improve your ranking. What Google doesn’t like ? Well , a bit the opposite of what I just wrote :

  • Thin sites
  • Sites that are never updated
  • Sites that have poor content
  • Sites with content that they cannot figure out what it is (flash etc.)
  • Sites that don’t have unique content

And what they really hate, is people who try to cheat their system. Some practices of these are :

  • Link farms
  • Automatically generated backlinks
  • Spinning content (rewriting the same article in 25 different ways)
  • Keyword stuffing

You can learn about all this on Google webmaster tools (

When you use any of these tactics, sooner or later they will find out, and you’re site will be de-indexed (disappear from Google). Game over. So think carefully before you consider using any shady tactics to improve your Google ranking.

Now to come back to the title of my post, how could we express this “being kind to Google” with a verb? I personally would call it “to googlelize”. I’ve searched up this word and it seems to be used sometimes by people in a phrase like “You can Googlelize me”. Meaning : You can look me up in Google. However, the far more used expression for this is : “You can Google me”.

So from now on, I will use the verb googlelize to express : being nice to Google. What do you think? Or  would you prefer Googlelove? Or Googlelike?

Let me know your preferred expression of “I do things that Google likes”.
