toolboxHere is a huge, non-exhaustive  list of all the sites and software that I use in my day to day activities. It doesn’t mean that you would need ALL of them to get an online business started.

Just read through and check out what looks interesting.  Notice that some of the links are affiliate links, so I will earn a small commission if you decide to purchase one of these products. This will NOT cost you anything extra. The good news is, that lots of these resources are FREE !!

I have used 4 different hosting companies: bluehost, 1&1, godaddy and hostgator. If you dive into the nitty gritty technical details you will notice that they are all comparable. I’ve never experienced a major blowout on any of them. Godaddy has a bit clumsy interface which I don’t like. But the most important thing for me is : customer service.

Note that I’m based in Europe, so when I call customer service it is very often 3:00 in the morning in the US. And that’s where hostgator has won for me, hands down. All the others I had substantial problems in getting certain problems fixed. Tickets that got lost. Answers not to the point. Endless email exchanges, etc. So if you are going to take hosting (and you WILL need that if you’re serious about your online business) I would highly recommend Hostgator.

If you do signup with them, I would suggest that you take the Baby Plan. This has the huge advantage that you can have a number of unlimited domains.

If you decide to use hostgator, use my coupon codes to get an even better rate !

If you want to pay just $0,01 , yes, that’s not a typo, it’s just 1 cent (for the 1st month) , use my coupon code OMEjustfor1cent when you register your hosting account.

If you want to have 25% off , you can use my special coupon code giveme25pctoff when you create your hosting account.

If you like it or not, if you are going to run an online business, you DO need an autoresponder. I’ve used both GetResponse and Aweber. And both are very similar.  But, as for hosting, for me one of the most important factors is : customer support. If I have a problem with my emails that go out, I want to have it fixed quickly.

Whatever time of the day it is. And on this point alone, Aweber wins hands down. Note, that when you decide for an autoresponder, and you want to switch later on, you have to let all people on your list to opt-in again. So, better make sure that your first choice is the right choice.

WordPress plugins

Here is a list of wordpress plugins that I use (or have used) , for different sites.
